Traffic reminder: Highway 99 closed from Battery St. Tunnel northward

One more reminder: Highway 99 is closed in both directions from the Battery St. Tunnel northward to Valley Street all weekend, so if you need to get north of downtown, you’ll need an alternate route; even if you’re just taking NB 99 to downtown, you might face backups, since everyone will have to exit at Western, if not sooner. This is all part of the city’s ongoing Mercer Corridor work.

I take 99 every day and had somehow missed the signs for it this week? My usual 10 minute commute from Queen Anne took 45 >:/

Don’t know if they had signs. We started posting it here more than a week ago – just happened onto it in a roundup of alerts. Sorry to hear about the extra time – hope your trip back is a little less time-consuming! – Tracy

I had been neglecting to check the blog. Totally my bad. Usually they start putting up the neon signs north of the Battery Street tunnel a few days before they do any major closures, though!

What’s the deal with the one-lane post-closure situation. Just heard on the radio that when 99 opens Monday it will be one lane only each way. This is a street which has 75,000 vehicles a day. What gives, anyone know?

Sorry, comment time is over.
