West Seattle Crime Watch: SWAT officers on Delridge

Thanks to the people who tipped us about some kind of police operation under way in the vicinity of the Super 24 store along Delridge. WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand arrived and found SWAT officers, guns drawn, and someone apparently in custody. No one is commenting at the scene so we are trying to find out more. Traffic was stopped on Delridge for a while but Patrick says it’s just been allowed to resume.

Officers were staged behind our house for a while waiting to move in. 25th & Brandon. Thought it might be the gang unit. More info would be great.

That’s not necessarily an arrest-at-gunpoint offense, but I just won’t know for sure until I hear back from someone at SPD. Which at this rate might not be till tomorrow … but I’ll update as soon as I get some kind of information … TR

I feel bad by wishing this, but I really wish the three liquor stores masquerading a as “food marts” would just go away. They really draw an undesirable crowd to the area. I’m curious to see how this is going to work w/ the new treatment housing across the street.

@Francisco: I llive two blocks from that shop and there are no liquor stores around.

@francisco, You are not the only person living around here that wishes the three stop-and-rob stores would go away. They take from the neighborhood way more than they give. And to think that years ago there used to be a neighborhood fruit stand where the 76 station/store is…sigh.

@Thomas, While they may not be classified as liquor stores, they all shovel a sh_t load of malt liquor, wine and beer out the door.

The DESC chose a really stupid location to shove people with alcohol, drug and mental issues.

Sorry, comment time is over.
