TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Monday on the move

(Live view from the east-facing WS Bridge camera; other cameras are on the WSB Traffic page)
One note for starters today, if you are headed for the Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth ferry – the Klahowya is still expected to remain out of service until at least this evening. Keep watch on Washington State Ferries alerts here.

As we start a new week, just to let you know about the road work planned NEXT weekend – Saturday and Sunday (May 4-5), both directions of S. Spokane Street under the bridge will be closed 7 am-6 pm for paving work. And all weekend long, at the east end of the bridge, the ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed as part of the Special Bridge Repair project.

5:24 PM: Crash on southbound 99 is backing up West Seattle-bound (and beyond) traffic – thanks for everyone who’s sent tips on this. SFD has already cleared the scene, so we’re hoping that means the crash itself will clear soon.

    Bridge is crawling. Anyone know if there was an accident this morning?

    Do you mean both directions of S. Spokane street on Harbor Island will be closed next weekend?

      No, as written, *under the bridge*. Harbor to Chelan, specifically.

    What in the world is going on with traffic lately…? The bridge isn’t exactly known for being a breeze during rush hour but this is getting ridiculous. No matter how early I leave for work – I’m stopped the second I get off Fauntleroy and onto the bridge. This isn’t meant to be a sob story – everyone is suffering… But this needs to change!

    Nice to hear they’re finally repaving that stretch. It’s like offroading under there – the rare roadwork I actually welcome!

    @JunctionMeg – try doing it on a motorcycle :p

    There is an accident on southbound Highway 99, so traffic is barely moving.

    While I did make it home 25 minutes later, the whole problem was exacerbated by last minute lane cheaters. Of course, if it wasn’t for cheaters, there would be less reason for cheating and the backup would filter away. And there is always a weak link who gets tooled over and over. Flame off.

Sorry, comment time is over.
