West Seattle traffic alert: Crash on westbound bridge

A crash toward the west end of the westbound West Seattle Bridge has been causing some backup this past half-hour. No other details – just a heads-up that the drive/ride home might be slower than usual.

    Is the person ok?

AJ, I wish I knew. We didn’t have any additional information besides “crash on bridge.” Best I can do is ask the SFD media liaison tomorrow if anyone was transported to the hospital. Unlike breaking-news incidents off the bridge, we can’t roll up to something like this and get out to ask questions and take photos … so we at least are able to mention them as traffic alerts.

I was the car ahead of this 3 car crash. We were all backed up from the light at 35th pretty far and the truck 3 cars behind me rear ended a small convertible which then rear ended another sedan, which missed my car by inches. All seemed okay, the driver of the convertible did look pretty shaken up and was hit the hardest by far. I would not be surprised if she had some back and neck pain.

I’ve noticed traffic backing up a lot more than usual this week and last week. Seems like the light timing changed or people are still trying to turn left from 35th on to Avalon during times when it is illegal or something as it never use to back up that far down the hill (possibly resulting in the accident on 10/1).

Sorry, comment time is over.
