Day-by-day list of Viaduct/99, bridge closures for this week

Once again for the coming week, we are melding the two lists of major highway/bridge (and related) closures – one from the city, one from the state – to create a day-by-day/night-by-night reference list. This one is for today (June 24th) through next Saturday (June 30th). You’ll find it linked throughout the week atop the WSB sidebar’s “BIG STORIES” link list.

Sunday, June 24 (today)

Thanks for this post, it is really quite helpful to have this broken out this way! Under the heading of ‘people are never satisfied …’ Any chance you would consider adding a link to this to the top of page nav bar you have? or maybe a permanent link on the traffic page?

I agree, this is a very helpful format. I hope you guys are planning to keep doing these posts weekly. Great work WSB, as usual!

Belated answer but: As noted in the story, this IS permalinked, see the BIG STORIES headline list on the sidebar – “THIS WEEK’S CLOSURES” links to this, and it stays there continuously. – TR

ok, I usually don’t pay attention to these late night closures cause they don’t affect me. but, I have a dumb question.

If I try to take the bus (125) home from downtown late on Thursday night, does the bus still stop at the 2nd and Columbia stop if it is not going on the viaduct? the metro trip planner told me to catch the bus there, but I don’t know if the Metro trip planner takes these closures into account. thanks for any insight.

KC Metro just emailed me the answer- lol. (I’m signed up to the email alert for my route, so handy)

“Their last stop in downtown Seattle will be southbound on 3rd Av just south of Columbia St.”

I wish that their online trip planner would update itself to reflect these re-routes.

WSDOT and SDOT owe the WSB team a giant award (or at least free toll across all bridges/tunnels for a decade) for all the work you’ve done keeping us off their backs for info.

Well, no, we’ve gotten enough awards lately … in this case, we’re just doing our job. This is what a news organization should be doing – getting the information that matters to people and reporting it. We keep trying to do a better job day by day. This week in particular has been interesting, and then some! – TR
P.S. for anyone interested – I got confirmation this evening that the 1st Ave So. onramp to eastbound WS Bridge is now open *to emergency vehicles* …which is why SFD (separate story, published late Thursday) is taking Ladder 13 out of service. They can’t open it to general traffic because until the full width of the widened bridge is ready, there’s no merging space for general traffic, but if you see a fire truck approaching, hopefully everybody will pull back and merging won’t be an issue!

Sorry, comment time is over.
