Why police and firefighters were at Roxhill Park this evening

A “brush fire” call this past hour at 29th and Cambridge wasn’t major – but it did bring police to Roxhill Park along with two fire engines; officers were looking for witnesses. Here’s the damaged patch:

Nobody was hurt; the fire was called in quickly enough that the fire crews made fast work of it.

My family and I live right around the corner from there! (we live on the same block as roxhill) and we were totally wondering what was happening! I’m glad no one was hurt and that it was taken out quickly!

we do too, cathrine! this happens occassionally during the summer, in particular when the fireworks start. that area can get dry, and with large grasses, all it takes is one wayward cigarette, roman candle, or sinister teenager to light the place up.

This is why I’m glad summer only last one weekend here. Let the rain begin and this won’t happen.

Sorry, comment time is over.
