West Seattle Weather Watch: And now we’re seeing snow

(Short video clip, added 8:27 am)
We reported the other night that this was a possibility this weekend – but suddenly this morning, there’s snow out there. National Weather Service has a “short-term forecast alert” but it doesn’t include the s-word as of last check. (The current forecast for the day says “mostly sunny”!)

JUST switched over here a bit further south. Well, that was interesting while it lasted! Completely unforecast.

More is on the way for the weekend! Winter is not over yet.

Is this why the traffic was so bad this morning?

SJ2 – I was also wondering why traffic was so awful this morning. I can tell you I was already stuck on Delridge when the snow started, so I don’t think the backups were snow-related. But I didn’t hear/read a report of any other reasons, so who knows…

We were discussing this on FB and Twitter and elsewhere … I have asked SDOT but they haven’t offered an explanation. One person said their bus driver claimed it was construction under the bridge, but SDOT confirmed that last night’s work there (the ongoing Fauntleroy Expressway seismic-retrofit project) ended around 3 am. – TR

Bridge traffic was bad yesterday too.

You know, sometimes things like this happen to remind us to live in the moment. Snow? Yes. Stop, marvel, do not panic, worry or complain. It is, after all, winter. Feel it. Be grateful. And it is gone. But it was real and you saw it, experienced it. Briefly.

Well said lady! This weekend looks like it might get wintery too! (Crossing my fingers!) LOVE it!
