For the second consecutive night, high-school basketball teams from West Seattle had a cross-neighborhood faceoff last night. West Seattle High School faced Seattle Lutheran High School, one night after its teams played Chief Sealth International High School.

The Wildcats topped the Saints in both varsity games – details and more photos ahead:

From WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand, who covered the games in the WSHS gym:

The boys’ varsity game saw the Wildcats go up 76-28, with LaTrey Newsome doing most of the scoring. He wound up with 27 points, followed by teammate DeAndre Coulter with 15. West Seattle controlled the boards and spent most of the last half of the game coming up with the ball when both teams found themselves in traffic. Lutheran’s high scorers were Bryce Morgan and Nick Savas, who both had eight points.

The night started with the girls’ varsity game, where West Seattle came up with its first win of the season, 42-21 over the Saints. While both teams did an excellent job of stripping the ball from each other, it was West Seattle who managed to turn those steals into points. The second quarter was the toughest for the Saints as West Seattle went on a serious run, putting up 14 points. A few more photos:
