Third from left, that’s Restita DeJesus from the Seattle Wushu Center north of Morgan Junction, inducted into the martial-arts Masters Hall of Fame in Southern California on Saturday night. DeJesus says she has explored martial arts for more than 30 years, including Tai Chi, Wushu, Karate, Kajukenbo-Wun Hop Kuen Do, Eskrima, Spanish knife fighting, Japanese archery, and Japanese swordsmanship, and is a two-time National Champion and 2001 International Tai Chi champion. That’s not all – she also is an aficionado of bullwhip artistry, sport target blowgunning, and slingshots, and she offers free lessons in these activities.

Way to go Rusty – The best instructor I have ever met – if you have children & want them to learn martial arts – Restita is the person to teach them. She not only taught my boys the fine art but also the responsibility & respect that goes along with it. She is also amazing at finding that one thing in each student that is strong & building on it to help them excel. She also taught my boys some amazing problem solving skills. Big Love & Congrats Rusty!!!

Bobbie! How are you? Thank you for the kind words! I fondly remember the boys when they were at our school. I hope they’re doing well.

Thank you, Robert, for your kind words as well.

West Seattle has been my “martial arts home” since the late 1980’s, and I thank the West Seattle community for being a wonderful neighborhood and supportive community. Even though I live in Kent now, my heart will always be a West Seattlelite! :)
