Also tonight: Junction pipe/drum parade for A Terrible Beauty

If you’re in The Junction around 7 pm tonight, be on the lookout for a parade. WSB contributor Katie Meyer reports that A Terrible Beauty‘s new West Seattle location is celebrating its official grand opening (though it’s been open since Tuesday) with a pipes-and-drums parade – the firefighter groups from Seattle and the Eastside will start at Alaska/California and march down the block to the new restaurant/pub, where the Irish flag will be planted. Spectators welcome!

I ate there last night too. Awesome job on the renovation. The food was excellent, but it took over an hour to get to our table from when we ordered it (with no apology), and our server had absolutely no clue about how to describe their many imported beers. I’m hoping that after it’s been open a while and the staff (both front and back of house) has time to learn the menu, both their speed and knowledge will improve. I still have high hopes for this place, so I’ll reserve judgement for now. One bad server does not a bad restaurant make.

I took a peek inside last night; GORGEOUS!!!

wonderful aromas, quite enticing, with reasonable prices day & night; no separate lunch/dinner menu/pricing; love that; they do have separate weekend brunch menu

I got a kick out of the uniforms, which are reminiscent of what I had to wear back in the 70’s when most restaurants were themed and servers always had to wear costumes to fit the themes

I stopped in a bit after 5 and they were already packed; the hostess was helping an elderly woman with a walker get seated, and there were all of a sudden about 20 people in the ‘lobby’

We ate there last night too! We arrived early and got a table right away, but within an hour the place was packed. The atmosphere is nice and we were very comfortable there. There was a slight miscommunication with the servers, but once that was resolved the service and food were wonderful. Our server was able to suggest a couple different beers, so we lucked out on getting someone who knew what she was talking about. We even played a board game until our food arrived. For apps we tried the wings (spicy & yummy), chicken tenders and potato cakes. Hubby had the shepherd’s pie and LOVED it. I had the Reuben and the kid had a burger. It was all very good. Portions were large so we came home with a big doggie bag. Can’t wait to go back!!
