West Seattle Crime Watch: Thieves targeting Acura Vigors?

Tonight in West Seattle Crime Watch, the saga of two Acura Vigors stolen and recovered – with certain parts missing. The first part of the story is a followup on the original theft report; the second part is a stolen-and-recovered, all in one – read on:

Christina shared the report of her stolen Vigor last week. Then today:

The police called me last night at 10:45 and told me (an officer) in Burien
found my car. I picked it up last night and all that is missing is the ashtray and not the radio they were after.

I want to thank the police for running my license plate when they saw the car. Job well done, you have deepest thanks!

Why the ashtray? Maybe it’ll make sense when you read Katie‘s tale:

I read on your blog that on Friday a 1994 teal Acura Vigor was stolen from 36th and Roxbury. My silver 1993 Vigor was stolen Friday morning between 6:30 and 7:30 on Saturday morning from California Ave between 104th and 106th. The police found it a few hours later at 104th and 32nd, or just a few blocks away.

The thieves stole three wheels and tires and one section of the wood paneling in the back seat, along with that door handle and automatic window control. (They also got my two hands-free devices for my phone, but I think that was just because they could). The tow truck driver said that it looks like someone has shaved down an Acura key and has been able to wiggle it around in the ignition to be able to start it and steal it without having to hotwire anything. However, this also means that other Vigor drivers should be on the lookout since it looks as if someone is trying to piece together another Vigor and has a key that should start other cars as well. I should make clear that just because the key started the car, they had to pry my locked door open though the side next to the handle. Hopefully they don’t figure out how to unlock the cars with the key as well!

Police said they found no prints, so unless they find someone in the act, they are not likely to catch the suspect(s).

If you’re looking for theft-prevention tips, here’s advice from Seattle Police.

My Vigor was stolen from my driveway 3 years ago and never found. I really enjoyed that car. But they only made them for a couple of years and looks as if people are looking for parts.

Sorry, comment time is over.
