‘Yucky intersection’: No major injuries in 44th/Oregon crash

Thanks to Brian from TouchTech Systems for the photo and thanks to Meredith and Jennifer for the tips on a multi-vehicle crash that snarled traffic for a while early this afternoon at 44th/Oregon in The Junction. Noting it on the WSB Facebook wall, Jennifer described it as a “yucky intersection.” Meredith noticed debris strewn for some distance, which required more cleanup than usual, but tow trucks have responded; no medic unit was summoned, which generally indicates no serious injuries.

That whole part of Oregon is odd and wrong. I swear twice a month someone doesn’t stop at the stop sign farther down near Glen Way and almost plows into me.

44th and Edmunds is a ticking time bomb. Slow down, people! It’s a STOP sign.

It’s hard to slow down when you’re driving a $96K german sports car!

I’ve always feared that intersection, and this is a reminder for me to avoid it whenever possible. The parked cars and the angles make for bad visibility of fast moving cars coming up and down Glenn Way.

I was in the 55 bus that turned the corner just as the tow truck was getting ready to hook-up. There were no emergency vehicles. The left rear of one car was smashed in and the left front of the other car was smashed in. I didn’t see any angry people either, just a man and woman with resigned expressions on their faces. And the policeman wasn’t giving tickets either, just sort of directing traffic.

It is a badly planned-out intersection – stop lights would certainly help, but I won’t hold my breath as to its happening.

Sorry, comment time is over.
