West Seattle weekend scenes: Earth Hour 2011

We have three photos shared from tonight’s Earth Hour, the annual observance of energy-sharing and ecological musing. Top, photographer Machel Spence says her family was, “Getting our connect four on, playing music and drawing via flashlight during Earth Hour!” Next, before and after shots from Stephanie Brownfield:

This was the fifth Earth Hour; it started in Australia in 2007, then went wide the year after that.

Thanks for sharing this! We have been observing one way or another for three years. This year we turned off all the lights and then went to a community game night thus reducing our personal energy usage by joining with others (for 3 hours). I hope next year the businesses will get more involved and get those office towers turned off.

Sorry but I never got the point of turning off the power for an hour. I understand conserving energy, but this does nothing.

Sorry, comment time is over.
