West Seattle coffee: Stand in the works at High Point’s Hans VW

The folks at Hans VW Repair (6302 35th SW) confirm something we happened onto while browsing city records: They’ve applied for permits to open a coffee stand on their site. They expect going through the permit process to take a few months, so they don’t have all the details worked out just yet, but the process has begun. Their corner is becoming quite the hive of activity – it’s also where High Point Mini Market opened two months ago, and it’s hosted Marination Mobile since the other side of Graham turned into a cleanup site (and potential future home to 90 townhomes and live-work units, as reported here last month).

Great news! That area needs more retail businesses, in general, especially with all the new housing going in at Highpoint.

When we had our basement remodeled, I had to use the laundromat there on 35th, The Wash House. The staff is very friendly & I miss seeing them. I believe they also have an espresso machine.

I noticed this walking on the way home the other day. That was what I thought it would be.

Did Hans say what the name was going to be?

How exciting! I hope they use Caffe Vita! It would be soo nice to not have to drink the same kind of coffee C&P has. Id be there everyday if I could get Caffe Vita near by.

Yay! I am a big supporter of Hans (he’s saved us literally thousands of dollars and is the most ethical mechanic I’ve ever worked with). I hope this shop helps the business.

I love the family opening up this business, they are wonderful people and long time West Seattle friends! So excited for them, YAY!!!

Also, this is a great location for a coffee shop as there are not very many coffee stops as you approach the West Seattle Bridge going North on 35th.

@Jana, have you checked out the cafe next to the laundromat on 35th & Webster…kitty-corner from John’s Corner Deli, and across the street from Bee Waxed Spa? They have some pretty great-tasting coffee, and great sandwiches as well.

Sorry, comment time is over.
