First, belated congratulations to the SLHS soccer program for more honors following their state-championship season: In statewide voting, coach Jeff Norton (above) was chosen State Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year (2B/1B), Ashley Shaw won Player of the Year and All-State First Team selection, and Sam Depew and Natalie Pimblett were chosen for All-State Second Team.

Second – our coverage of Saturday night’s varsity basketball games with Seattle Lutheran hosting Bear Creek, ahead:

Summaries and video from WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand:

BOYS’ VARSITY: Saturday night saw a very physical Bear Creek team control the ball as they went on to post a 66-29 win over Seattle Lutheran. Top scorers for the Saints were Fred Lisko with 10 points and Evan Clements with eight. At times the Saints kept the Grizzlies fro finding a rhythm. Here’s a highlight from the second quarter when Lutheran contained Bear Creek until the shot clock ran out which lead to a bakset by Fred Lisko.

GIRLS’ VARSITY: A much taller Bear Creek team forced the Saints’ varsity girls into an outside shooting game that gave Bear Creek a 59-27 win. At times Bear Creek had trouble shooting the ball and wound up watching Lutheran pick up the rebound, but then fail move down the court and score. Here’s video of the last minute of the first half of that game.
