This is truly sad news. Darlene was always kind to my family, helping us in big and small ways. She treated our dog as one of her own. She was a great neighbor, and will be missed.

Darlene groomed three of my dogs over many years, and treated them as if they were her own. I am saddened by her passing.

Darlene Morrison always had a healing, loving hug for everyone. Her sparkling blue eyes made you smile no matter how bad you were feeling.

Darlene left us very prematurely at the age of 50 on November 2, 2010. She glided off in her sleep leaving a huge hole in this world.

A successful business woman, she began with Canine Crafters, a dog grooming shop in the heart of West Seattle. Darlene was a Master Groomer; she was the best of the best and had a huge following. To accommodate her many loyal clients, she frequently worked 15 hour days. After many years, she sold the business as the rigors of dog grooming had taken it’s toll and her body needed a break. It was at this time of her life that Darlene started up Darlene’s Dog House, day care and doggie hotel so that while dog owners were at work or on vacation they could relax knowing that the dogs were in the loving hands and heart of our wonderful friend, Darlene. Darlene was the ultimate dog whisperer. Every dog (and their owners) adored Darlene. The dogs could be soaked with mud, but Dar would still give them a great big hug! None of her clients thought of her as an employee but as a part of their family whom they loved dearly.

Out of her strong love and devotion towards dogs, many a dog was rescued and then fostered until Darlene could find just the right home for them.

Many patrons of Westcrest Dog Park are probably unaware that Darlene, along with a landscaping friend donated hours of their time and tractor use to make the original loop at the park for dogs and their owners to enjoy.

Although suffering many painful ailments, Dar had smiles for everyone and was quick to find out what she could do for you.

Darlene went to sleep and made her final journey to join the loves of her life, her predeceased rottweilers, Jack and Scotty. Leaving all of us with a space that cannot be filled but we all have stories, memories, and know that she is watching over all of us and our four legged friends. Darlene is not gone, she’s just gone ahead.

Dar, we love you, we miss you and you shall never be forgotten.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, November 13th, 2010 at Life Church, 3420 SW Cloverdale (corner of 35th & Cloverdale) in West Seattle from 3pm – 6pm.

On a more personal note……….I enjoyed tea with Darlene in the late afternoon on the day she passed. She was happy and lovely and seemed perfectly great…….we hugged goodbye.

Please feel free to email if more information is needed, as well, the aforementioned service may be short notice for some, there will be another goodbye to honor Darlene at a later date, please email tlcpetservices@comcast.net

What a beautiful picture of Darlene. Emmy and I will miss you so much. Darlene did so many thoughtful things for both of us over the 5 years we knew her. When I had a very demanding job, Darlene treated Emmy as her own and made her feel loved and even offered to take her extra days, even if I couldn’t afford it. She was incredibly giving and always made room for my Emmy in her home, even at the very last minute. I still remember the very first day Emmy spent at the dog house. I came to pick her up and Emmy saw me, jumped up on the flower bed, and jumped through the window to get back in. Darlene and her dog house were just that great. You will be greatly missed by this family.

Sorry, comment time is over.
