West Seattle traffic alert: Overnight closure now under way

The westbound Spokane Street Viaduct closure that SDOT announced days ago for tonight into tomorrow morning has kicked in a bit early, according to a Facebook note from Heather – she says the southbound I-5 exit to the West Seattle Bridge was blocked off as of 9:30. That exit and the entire stretch of the westbound Spokane Street Viaduct from I-5 to Highway 99 will be closed until about 5 am because of construction work (part of the SSV Widening Project).

Where can I get up to date info AHEAD OF TIME as to when the W. Seattle bridge will be closed in the late evening hours. With on ramp bridges closed it’s even harder to access the bridge, and without knowing when construction is going on during late evening hours accesses is even MORE restricted. It would be nice to have an updated page with this info so people can plan ahead.

Augie, we report all the closures here, both when they’re announced, repeated the morning of, and then as they happen. What we haven’t done and should start doing is putting them atop the Traffic page for an easy place to check. If you don’t/can’t read the news here daily to catch such things, here’s a page you can wade through:
      http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/King/Seattle.htm
      .
with all sorts of upcoming construction. I’ve also added that to the list of standing links atop the Traffic page. The city has a “travelers’ information” map you might try wading through – I’ve added that link to the traffic page as well.

Sorry, comment time is over.
