(Tailgating in the chilly sunshine before the game)
This weekend’s final local high-school football game is over – at West Seattle Stadium, it was Orcas Island 28, Seattle Lutheran High School 20. This was homecoming for the Saints, so lots of ceremony. ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT: Video (including the guest band from Chief Sealth) and more details after the jump:
From WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand:
Despite some very quick and explosive offensive moments, Seattle Lutheran lost their homecoming game to Orcas Island, 28-20. Lutheran’s R.J. Son had a 31- yard run for a touchdown in the second quarter that followed this kickoff return by Fred Lisko just a few minutes earlier.
Late in the game, Saints senior Alex Rhees ran the ball 47 yards for a touchdown.
From halftime: The crowning of homecoming royalty:
And once again this year, the Chief Sealth International High School band made a guest appearance at SLHS homecoming:
They had played at their own homecoming game (WSB coverage with video, here) just last night.
The Saints have one more away game, playing Chief Leschi in Fife next week. That’s followed by their last two home games, Oct 29th against Tacoma Baptist and Nov 5 against Rainier Christian, which will be Senior Night.
