After several notes scattered over the course of the afternoon/evening, we finally have information on the big police presence that several people noticed in Highland Park and south White Center at midday today: Southwest Precinct Lt. Ron Smith tells us tonight that it started with a report of a “domestic-violence disturbance” in the parking lot of Walgreens at 15th/16th/Roxbury. The suspect, a man in his late 20s, ran; he eventually was found hiding in bushes two blocks away, but matters were complicated by the fact the victim was uncooperative, says Lt. Smith, and tried to keep officers from finding the suspect. Once he was found, he was booked into King County Jail in connection with an outstanding warrant. Also tonight, two reader reports – a stolen car, and a car prowl – read on:
From Tyler:
Our 2009 black Honda CRV License Plate # 984 ZJX was stolen from our driveway off the alley near 45th ave SW and Holgate St early Monday morning (7/12). The police think the thief might just joy ride and park it somewhere, so please contact the police if you notice this car.
From Anjie:
Just wanted to report a car prowl incident in Arbor Heights. It happened sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning. Nothing stolen, but glove compartments were opened and hands-free device was unplugged from charger (but left in the car). We don’t keep anything of value in our van, but wanted to remind others to keep vehicles locked and remove valuables.
No West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meeting this month, but do be sure to sign up your block party for Night Out, three weeks from tonight – and let us know where you’re having it, if you wouldn’t mind us stopping by for a photo in our annual “as it happens” coverage.
