Happening now: Firefighters need your help to ‘Fill The Boot’

Thanks to the tipsters who shared the news that West Seattle firefighters are out by 35th/Fauntleroy in The Triangle, near the bridge entrance and Starbucks drive-through, taking donations for the annual “Fill the Boot” Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraiser campaign. They’re from nearby Station 32 – that’s Ladder 11’s Capt. David Pagan in the photo – and tell us they’ll be out till about noon. ADDED 11:07 AM: One more photo – MDA rep Alaina Miller with SFD’s Paul Hansen – and Ladder 11 itself!

For the love… as much as I appreciate the fund raising effort, I wish they could find another way to collect other than walking in the road and between moving cars in the street.

Even my kid commented on it: “Why are those guys breaking Rule Number One?” (Don’t do stupid stuff is Rule #1) C’mon guys, please be safe while you’re doing good.

A special thanks to Station 32 and all those who work to help. Muscular Dystrophy is devastating to those who suffer from it and who love them. Thank you all.

I hope it was a great success.

Thanks to all W. Seattleites and their amazing generosity we were able to raise over $7800 in two days. This is a very worthy cause that helps with research and also helps provide medical equipment and supplies for children and young adults suffering from this terrible disease. Thanks again to all who supported the fundraiser.

We place ourselves in harms way cause we love you!!: whether that means walking on or in a burning building trying to find you (see: https://westseattleblog.com/2010/07/house-fire-northwest-of-the-junction), or when collecting money for disabled kids.

Of course managing risk is important too. We’ll work on it!! My hat is off to you, you’ve taught your kid well. Thanks for thinking about us. See you out there…..

Sorry, comment time is over.
