Though (as reported Tuesday) the county didn’t publicly announce the first meeting of the Citizens Advisory Group it has assembled for the review of how/where to control Combined Sewer Overflows from the Murray Pump Station at Lowman Beach Park – they promised to get out more advance info in the future, and we just received the first installment from King County Wastewater Treatment Division’s Annie Kolb-Nelson, regarding the next CAG meeting, a reminder of this Saturday’s all-day “technical information session” (with optional tours), and more:

Again, in a nutshell, if you haven’t been following this closely – this has to do with the county figuring out how to reduce the number of overflows from the pump station; earlier this year, three “final” alternatives were announced, to much neighborhood (and beyond) concern – one alternative would dig up almost all of upper Lowman Beach Park to bury a million-gallon tank and would also add an above-ground utility/odor-control facility; another would require purchase (maybe even through eminent domain) of properties across from Lowman for tank placement; another would dig up two major stretches of area streets. So in the face of public concern as well as requests for much more technical information so that informed counterproposals could be made, the county has extended the comment/public-involvement period TFN. Here’s what we received this morning:

Information about the Murray Basin Community Advisory Group (CAG) has now been posted to our website at www.kingcounty.gov/environment/wtd/Construction/Seattle/BeachCSO/

The group is aiming to meet bi-weekly, though schedules and meeting dates are still being worked out. We will share all this info as soon as it’s pinned down.

The next CAG meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Hall at Fauntleroy.
