West Seattle restaurant news: Wing Dome update

When a commenter wondered earlier today when the Wing Dome is opening in The Junction, since it plans to participate in the upcoming Taste of West Seattle on May 20th, we realized we hadn’t checked in with spokesperson Colleen O’Leary for a while – so we did just that. She had said in February that they were awaiting their construction schedule for their section of what used to be part of CAPERS, before estimating a date. They have that now, and work is under way, as you can see in the photo she shared; she says they’re aiming for late June/early July.

I, for one, am doing an air high-five. Love the Wing Dome and love that maybe West Seattle can hang onto its blue collar tradition just a bit longer. Don’t think we need another wine bar.

I can’t wait for the wings! I also wasn’t aware Seattle City code allowed for so many wood (ie non metal) studs in a commercial space!

It is fire partitioned off from Capers and the new space to the north and the building is only one story. Thus the wood.

    What is, Bickle?

I’m looking forward to it also, SoBC, but I wonder about all these wine bars we don’t need any more of. I’ve lived here for a while now, and can’t think of a single wine bar in W. Seattle.

WRT wine bars, Locol is in the works on 35th. WRT the other part of the ex-CAPERS space, what we “heard” was NOT a wine bar, but we don’t have any sort of official info on it yet so I won’t say what we “heard” … we’ll have a story as soon as we confirm anything! – TR

take a hint from the enthusiastic response – from hundreds of happy WS veg heads – to the rumor about a vegetarian place coming to the hood – (Chaco Canyon), Wing Dome – give us some veg options too please!

agree with “lame”. Sportsloving/chickeneating/cheapbeeerdrinking/not need in the junction. Hello, you can go so many other areas for that. the junction is a tiny island of culture and interestingness. Keep out the chains. Bring in character! We neeeeed more character!

  • dawsonct April 16, 2010 (11:01 pm)

    I believe they have microbrews.
Funny mentioning a distaste for chains (like Jaks? Easy Street? Be’s? Great Harvest? Tacos Guyamas?), but when we have our usual bi-weekly Trader Joe’s genu-fest, nobody seems to dwell on their utter chainy-ness.
What are your plans for bringing a truly needed, culturally relevant and character-filled business to the Jct. area, jimmy?

Or do you just like to complain when something doesn’t suit your needs exactly?
Don’t like chicken, sports, or beeer (or good grammar)? Go somewhere else.

I guarantee that my picture will be first on the wall whenever, this place desides to open it’s doors. I can’t wait.

Sorry, comment time is over.
