West Seattle business news: Knows Perfume sets May 13 opening

Two months ago, we brought you the story of Christen Cottam (photo left) and her new store Knows Perfume, on its way to The Junction at 4536 California SW. Tonight, Knows Perfume has announced via Facebook and Twitter that it’s set May 13th for its grand opening. That’ll be the next West Seattle Art Walk night, by the way, and Knows plans to participate. Here’s our original story on the perfume-store plan.

    Awesome!

Christen- If you can, please make a section for “perfumes for sensitive skin.”

I have rash reactions to many perfumes and I’ve only found a few that work for me…

Really looking forward to checking out Christen’s shop! Open, open, open!

When did West Seattle become Hipsterville? Not to be negative but if I wanted to live on Cap Hill, I woulda moved to Cap Hill.
Good Luck with your store, I wish you well. No offense meant here but I am sad to see WestSea lose what made it WestSea.

Really Jodico? You are sorry to lose a tiny alteration store to a new tiny perfume shop?

    Um . . . okay.

I grew up in West Seattle in the 70s and 80s, and parking was easier sure, but there were not a lot of options for dining, and 95% of the stores catered to octogenarians. (That is not an exaggeration.) To buy anything we had to leave West Seattle or order it into the JC Penny catalog store that was the current Antique Mall.

Now I can get almost anything I need on this side of town and as the Junction grows, true WS “originals” like Northwest Art and Frame, Husky and Easy Street who have been there forever, remain and just get better by the surrounding new shops. Blake Bakery was a sentimental favorite, but has nothing on Bakery Nouveau. That’s what I call a good change.

Anyway, I might grumble about the parking and condos along with everyone, but I enjoy the restaurants and farmers market and think the new “baby boom” we are having here is pretty awesome. A new gen of West Seattlites who will actually have stuff to DO on the Westside growing up! Do you really want to trade back the coffee houses to funeral homes again to get a taste of the old West Seattle? I don’t.

Sorry, comment time is over.
