Voting begins in CityDog Magazine’s Cover Dog Search

Last year’s winner came from West Seattle – will it happen two years in a row? Just got the link from CityDog Magazine via Twitter – voting has begun, among the five finalists (including Murphy, the West Seattle winner, reported here Sept. 21) chosen in the past few months of photo shoots. Cast your vote here. By the way, in addition to Murphy, we have one other pitch for West Seattle votes – WSB’er Jo from Alki says another of the candidates, Scout the three-legged border collie (right), is her “grand-dog” – living with her son and daughter-in-law – and deserves a look. May the best dog win! (Here’s the voting link again.)

    Hi, all.
I do agree that Murphy is one photogenic fella.
    HOWEVER…
My ‘grand-dog’ Scout is a SURVIVOR!
    .
The following is a blurb that my son, who works at PAWS animal shelter, wrote up about Scout:
“Scout came to PAWS as a stray with a crushed paw that had gone untreated for it looked like about 2 months.
It was very swollen and pussy and bones in her ankle and paw were exposed.
The pads were non-existent as they had become necrotic.
She would fling it up into your lap almost as if to say, “please help.. it really hurts.”
Veterinary Specialty Center in Lynnwood (Dr Stohl) generously agreed to amputate the leg as it was beyond repair. Caren and I agreed to foster her until she had recovered and the rest is history.
She is best friends with our 10 year old Border Collie and 3 cats.
She was being the certified tester dog for the A.K.C Canine Good Citizen test at PAWS Walk when she was photographed for the contest.” (Caren is my daughter-in-law, who also works at PAWS and is a professional, certified dog trainer.)
    .
So you can see why this West Seattle connected ‘grand-dog of mine would like your votes.
    .
    SHE’S A SURVIVOR!

There is no doubt Murphy is a handsome boy but did you know that Scout once dragged my unconscious body from a burning vehicle, performed CPR and didn’t even tear my shirt in the process?

Pretty impressive, Huh? I’m tellin’ ya Vote for Scout. ;-)

I have to say, Scout’s grandma and uncle’s great comments above have swung me on this one. Murphy is undoubtedly cute, but I love the survivor story of Scout. Plus, she knows CPR :)! Go Scout!

Sorry, comment time is over.
