West Seattle Crime Watch: 2 more break-in reports

One home break-in and one car break-in, and both victims e-mailed WSB to make sure you were aware of what happened – read on:

From Jody:

Wanted to report that we live in the 4000 block of 49th Avenue (map) and came home (Monday) to our house broken into. A couple of windows had been left open but they opted to kick the back door in instead. Nothing much of value was stolen, mainly just jewelry (of little value) and our passports. They went through most of the rooms, leaving doors and cupboards open.

Looks like they are not just targeting people with open window these days and they are very specific in what they are looking for (anything they can carry easily).

From Roshele:

I live down by Endolyne Joe’s (vicinity map) and last week I had my car broken into. They broke a window and escaped with a black empty bag. I was lucky I did not have anything else of value. My neighbor a few days later had his car broken into as well.

There seems to be a lot of car break ins lately around West Seattle so I just wanted to let people know to keep their cars clear of anything so that the thieves have no reason to break a window.

Jody should report the stolen passports immediately. Here is a link http://travel.state.gov/passport/lost/lost_849.html

I am beginning to feel like it is only a matter of time before we have all had a break-in.

The Shorewood neighborhood has been plagued by break-ins as well. They came in through a window of my across the street neighbor in broad daylight and into my home while I was working in the back yard – front door was closed but not locked. So they are relatively fearless. Took my purse and grabbed a handfull of non-valuable necklaces from the bedroom. There was also an attempt to kick in the back door of another neighbor.

Sorry, comment time is over.
