Happening now: West Seattle photographer’s freebie for jobseekers

(WSB photo by Christopher Boffoli)
That’s West Seattle photographer Rasmus Rasmussen in the foreground, Kelly Cline in the background. They’re at C & P Coffee till 6 pm tonight, or till they’ve photographed 120 jobseekers taking advantage of the “free headshot” offer (announced two weeks ago). We just checked in with Kelly via Twitter and she says it’s been a “slow-but-steady trickle” since this began at 11 am; she adds, “Happy people and gracious hosts. Very awesome feel-good vibes all around.” 4:12 PM: Diane just called, saying she’s just back from the photo setup and they haven’t maxed out yet, so they’ll definitely be there till 6. 10:27 PM: Here’s tonight’s Channel 13 TV story on the event.

Do a lot of jobs require headshots as part of the application package?

Just want to say thank you – to both Rasmussen & C & P Coffee

Sage: I wondered the same thing. But Mr. Rasmussen explained that people were using the images more for job-related social networking sites like Linkedin.

Sage, on Rasmus’ blog he had mentioned using them for networking sites, like LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.

I’m glad that I saw the original posts on this earlier today. My husband unfortunately joined the ranks of the unemployed yesterday, so was able to stop over, get a photo, and check out the support group at C&P.

Ah, well now *that* makes sense! Thanks.

Rasmus and Kelly did a wonderful job today, which was much appreciated by all who attended.

If you can make it before 6PM, do stop by C and P and let them take a head shot for you.

Even the media stopped by, with visits from KOMO, KIRO, and KCPQ 13.

A real win win for everyone involved!

    Thank you Rasmus and Kelly!

KOMO showed their story on this early in their 5:00pm newscast.

Let me jump in and thank WSB for breaking the story and helping me get going on the idea. This was a TON of fun to do – I can’t recall the last time, I’ve talked to so many nice people.

Anyone curious about what the photos actually look like, can take a peek at a silly sample on Twitpic.

Sorry, comment time is over.
