West Seattle designers’ T-shirt tribute to Michael Jackson

With the much-publicized memorial just hours away, Michael Jackson headlines are rampant again. We have just one here at WSB: West Seattle designers/artists/musicians Heart On My Sleeve (profiled here in March) have designed and are selling the Jackson tribute T-shirt shown above.

I don’t get it. Please explain

  • WSB July 6, 2009 (11:00 pm)

I believe their subtitle for the shirt, or maybe it’s a working name, is “I (dance) Michael Jackson.” Makes sense with the feet in the graphic. But on the other hand, maybe like most art, it’s whatever you think it is … TR

“As a general rule, keep both feet on the ground. Never show the bottom of your foot to an Arab; this is considered offensive.”

Beats “I Slept With Michael Jackson and got a lousy $1.2 million”

Follow the link in the story (everything blue in a WSB story is a link – in this case it’s the “are selling …” link) – TR

People can wear them as they gather at Forest Lawn on Thursday to await his resurrection.

My first thought was “I (hang) MJ” and I thought, no way! Then I figured it must be the dance move. I hope.

  • RPH July 7, 2009 (8:48 am)

I “en pointe” MJ? I toe stand Michael Jackson?
Makes about as much sense as worshipping his celebrity. R.I.P.M.J.

The man was talented but he was also a pedophile. Why would anyone worship a pedophile?

  • JanS July 7, 2009 (12:03 pm)

for those who have voiced it on here…Michael Jackson was found “not guilty” of being a pedophile…so, Mike Green, Tonya 42, do you have inside information that no one else has? You are entitled to your opinion, even when it’s not true…and you both know you have no idea if it’s true or not…so keep it to yourself..ok?

You don’t care to mourn the man? Then don’t…don’t listen, don’t pay attention…that is your prerogative. Just ignore and walk away..

  • Tonya42 July 7, 2009 (12:13 pm)

Well he paid off the first child so I am sure we will be hearing about it more and more now that he’s passed so JanS, you believe OJ was innocent too yes?

  • chas redmond July 7, 2009 (12:24 pm)

I obviously live on another planet – my first thought was “I “feet” Morgan Junction” – that made as much sense as the Michael Jackson reference – his music was and is incredible, his talent was of the “one of a kind” variety, and his life, like so many others with that “one of a kind” genius, was tortured to be sure. My kids and I loved Thriller, though, and even with all that’s gone down after, we still appreciate the talent and the music.

Tonya42 – Until you are a multi-millionaire with plenty of folks just waiting to sue you for whatever they can, then maybe you’ll realize that oftentimes it’s just easier to settle for a large sum of money than to spend the time & money proving your innocence in court. As you’ve already shown in your comments, the court of public opinion is not “innocent until proven guilty”…but rather “guilty until proven innocent”.
    .
Besides, if your child was really molested, then wouldn’t you want the perpetrator to go to jail – rather than just get paid-off? And the second boy that MJ was found NOT GUILTY – his and his mother’s stories broke apart in court…ya know, like when you’re making up a story and can’t remember what lies you told?

  • Tonya42 July 7, 2009 (12:49 pm)

I understand the desire to defend him and to believe that MJ was a “victim” but there was a pattern that went back a long time. I find it hard to believe that anyone would consider him innocent. But money and fame can by votes and loyalty as well.

I don’t intend to state that he was not talented because he was and I loved his music too but after a while it became harder for me to “look the other way”.. I’m just funny that way I guess.

He did admit to having “slept” with little boys in his bed at Neverland….bottom line the guy had incredible talent that we won’t see again. You have to love him for that. I don’t like the idea of making a profit off a dead guy, who ever it is. Gee, why not Ed McMann, Farrah, Karl Malden or even “turn down the volume” Billy Mays. Donate the profits if anybody actually buys those ugly things.

I’m sorry, but I was in love with Michael Jackson when I was between 10-15 years old. He inspired my dancing and I have been an amazing dancer because of him. No one can deny that he was an artist, a true artist. Most artists are very eccentric, and that’s why they create things no one else has. His music and dancing was unlike anyone else. He will always have my dancing heart.

  • laRAWlea July 7, 2009 (3:58 pm)

One more thought… I spoke of art… that is what the T-shirt is all about. It’s a design you actually have to think about and it comes from a true artist, who thinks outside the box.

Ill see you at the street fair this weekend and you will meet me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • alki_2008 July 7, 2009 (9:08 pm)

“slept” with doesn’t equate to something sinister. Plenty of parents sleep with their children…that doesn’t have to be something sexual. One of the things that’s unfortunate is that much of MJ’s charitable acts were completely overshadowed by such allegations. This guy never had a regular childhood, and he tried to live a child-like life in adulthood. He wasn’t perfect by any means, but there’s a big difference between being eccentric and being a pedophile. MJ left behind young kids (unlike the other folks that died recently – well, besides McNair)…and that is one of the saddest parts of this situation IMHO.

Can’t we all just drink some Jesus Juice and get along?

  • Loving Alki Resident July 8, 2009 (1:34 am)

Its clearly a play on those “I Heart New York” shirts . . . So it MUST mean “I Love Michael Jackson” . . . his dance moves & music . . . maybe? Can’t be 100% sure on this one.

  • NIMBY Nulu July 8, 2009 (9:22 am)

I wonder how the MJ is innocent folks explain the explicit personal detailed description of a mark on MJ’s penis by one of those “gold digging” little boys.
One “not guilty” verdict in no way implies that nothing happened, just that nothing could be proven in that court at that time.
A “multi-millionaire with plenty of folks just waiting to sue” – just name all of the rich and famous that have been charged as a pedophile.
Not Elvis, the Beatles, the Stones, Madonna, Bruce, Brittany… or other Jackson family members.

  • Cait July 8, 2009 (6:05 pm)

MJ, like many men, wore Speedos and owned a pool that he invited other people to. And it was not on his penis it was a few inches away from his crotch on what sounds like his inner thigh.

Also, Elvis and the Beatles were rich but did not lead an eccentric enough lifestyle for people to believe claims against them.

    Next.

  • Nulu July 9, 2009 (8:33 am)

“MJ, like many men, wore Speedos and owned a pool that he invited other people to”!!!!!
    Eccentric enough??
    Heh, heh?
    Next?

Sorry, comment time is over.
