SATURDAY MORNING: *Welcome to Nia!* Free Class Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 9:00 a.m.-9:50 a.m. Start your day with a free introductory Nia class led by Jill Pagano and Lesley Tinker, Certified Nia Instructors. Nia is a cardiovascular and conditioning practice for body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Done barefoot to music, each Nia class provides a unique focus for warming up, moving, and cooling down. Come help us remove invasive plants, put down a layer of mulch and plant native plants and trees. The Delridge Natural Area is a beautiful site with the Longfellow Creek meandering through it. Two beaver ponds have developed as well, creating habitat for many different kinds of wildlife. Be sure to wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt and boots and if you have work gloves bring them as well – I have a supply of gloves as well. Also, bring water and a snack. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Kids ages 3 months – 12 years have a safe and fun evening at the Y while parents go out or relax at home. $22.50-$30 depending upon child’s age/membership status. Space is limited. SATURDAY NIGHT: An Evening with Mr. Peter Ali, Contemporary Native Flute Master
Doors open at 6 p.m. (Performance begins at 7 p.m.), Duwamish Longhouse
Native Flute player Peter Ali will be performing a variety of songs on Flutes, all of which he made. Considered one of the best Traditional Flute players, the Duwamish Tribe is proud to present him.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Schmitz Park at Night. Come for a guided nocturnal walk through the old growth forest at Schmitz Park Preserve. The Barred Owls may be hooting, the Trilliums will be trilling, the yellow swamp lanterns will be stinking among the enormous trees. Hike is fairly easy, but a bit hilly and the trail a bit wet in spots. We’ll hoot for owls and I’ll bring the bat detector to hear the bats’ sonar. An adventure is guaranteed!
