Another West Seattle storefront, empty no more: Arcane Comics

Over the weekend we told you about Pilates Westside coming to Morgan Junction, thanks to Mike’s tip; now we have a second tip from Michelle south of Admiral — she spotted the Cometa Playschool sign in former Prudential space on the east side of California (here’s our Friday report on that), and now tells us some of the ex-Prudential west-side space — near where small clothes is moving — has just been claimed by Arcane Comics, which is based in Ballard. Here’s a map. Since her note, we’ve been by to chat with them, and also just caught that shot of their facade wrap going up; they’re technically open but they’re still working to assemble the store, with a lot of work to be done when we dropped by. Their intent is to be “West Seattle’s comics authority,” and they’ll have some gaming supplies too. They expect to be fully up and running within a few days.

I saw sign in window for Cometa Playschool on Sat, but thought this had already been reported here

I was looking at new Cometa sign from across the street, at new small clothes store; small clothes was already moved in to new space on Sat, and were putting up their new signs; it’s beautiful, very stroller accessible

It was Friday when we did the Cometa story, although the school operators had mentioned to us sometime back they were working on a new location, so it feels like it was old news :) will add the inline links above, which will help – TR

3221 Cali is the address to the old Prudential storefront – may not be the EXACT address but it’s the same basic site. Added above, sorry.

there used to be a comic store where Twilight is now. Cant remember the name. Lots of money spent between them and the one in Burien on 152nd.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. The exact address is 3219 California Ave. The store entrance is on the side of the building under the covered driveway. Store hours are 10-8 every day. We have parking in the rear of the building. Right now we are running with the remaining inventory from Emerald City Comicon.

Our grand opening will be May 15th.

    Look forward to seeing everyone,

    Keaver

This just made my day; a comic shop within a 10 min walk : )

My friend Jeremy will be working there – he’s awesome! If you have any questions – whether you’re new to comics or a long time comics nerd…I mean aficionado, he’s a great guy to talk to.

Welcome to West Seattle! I’m not a long time resident (only about 2 years), but I have been waiting for a local game/comic shop. I hope everything goes well with the opening and look forward to patronizing your establishment (and hopefully some Friday Night Magic).

Hey Keaver–congrats; will pop in to see you soon, and maybe buy my first comic.

Sorry, comment time is over.
