West Seattle Weather Watch: Latest on the snow chance

From the official National Weather Service forecast issued for the metro area early this morning:

SATURDAY NIGHT…MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS. LOWS IN THE UPPER 20S TO MID 30S. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 TO 15 MPH…EXCEPT NORTHWEST WIND NORTH PART. SUNDAY…PARTLY SUNNY WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 40S. SOUTHWEST WIND NEAR 10 MPH. SUNDAY NIGHT…MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS. LOWS IN THE MID 20S TO LOWER 30S.

As for today – mostly sunny! By the way, Scott C noted that the city put what appeared to be a “thick” layer of deicer on the West Seattle Bridge overnight.

You know, I used to balk at snow predictions for Seattle. The TV weathermen used a snow forecast to boost ratings. They were never right. And if it did snow, they always missed it.

Now, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got an inch.

I’ve said this before, but the one tv weatherguy I worked with over the years who did get it right more often than not is Walter Kelley at 13. He works Sun-Thurs … didn’t get to see what he said last night. And the fabled Cliff Mass hasn’t updated yet this morning. So we’ll see! – TR

Glad they put deicer out. It was 32* well after the sun came up this morning, and all our puddles were frozen solid in the Alley From Hell . The “lake” puddles you reported awhile back? Totally skate-able this morning. :-)

My alley from hell could totally beat up your alley’s dad.

My alley from hell forced the post office to completely change their delivery route to avoid it.

My alley from hell routinely elicits cursing from the garbage & recycling truck drivers, and is known by UPS drivers as the ‘worst alley in west seattle’. Fed Ex won’t even drive it.

Now quitcher whining until your alley can step up.

    Joan,

I have seen some pretty bad alleys in WS – I, and perhaps other readers might like to see yours.

Perhaps you could share a picture? Maybe TR would do a story on the best and worst alleys in WS?

maybe someone could start a forum thread…pictures and all ;-) I want to know about these alleys you speak of…hehehe

In case we DO get these freezing temps and more snow, should I cover my tulips and dafodills and all the other bulbs/greens that are reaching for the sun???? I could put towels/newspaper or something over them…or do I let nature just do it’s thing……?

Sorry, comment time is over.
