West Seattle Crime Watch: Luna (Anchor) Park-area vandalism

Reported by CL:

Friday night, between 5 PMish and midnight, multiple cars on the water side of Alki near Luna Park received an egg wash… shells still on the street today, though mostly crushed by now. Cars were parked on both the east and west ends of the bus zone … so whomever threw the eggs had to keep at it a bit… probably others involved too, though these were what I saw… Also, don’t know how current / new , but there is a big graffiti on the seawall just off the bottom of the steps from Luna Park down to the beach … Seattle Parks has been advised.

(Luna Park, in this case, refers not to the business district along Avalon just south of The Bridge, but to the area where the waterfront amusement park of that name stood long ago, now marked by the small piling-top pocket park that is also known as Anchor Park.)

If caught, grafitti “artists” should be required to remove every inch of their ugly crap with a small toothbrush. A “tag” on public property is like a giant pimple or herpes sore.

Not sure what the “sewing circle” allusion is to (I personally flunked even basic basting in 8th grade home ec and haven’t tried since), but yes, it’s news. And then if we can ever get to a point where this kind of thing is finally enforced, shamed, etc., out of existence, I look forward to reporting the news story that an entire day went by without anyone’s property being damaged, stolen, etc. – TR

reporting of every small egg that hits a car is not news but GOSSUP. (sewing circle) kids have been throwing eggs at cars since the model T. Guns are news eggs wash off… Jeannie should people stay home when they have a big zit or herpes?

Had that discussion before. Yes, permanent damage can be done. See comment thread from the last such “spree” reported (four months ago, not exactly “every small egg that hits a car”) …

G-O-S-S-I-P. And I’m guessing it would be news if your car was the one covered in eggs.

Check the videotape of any small convenience store within a few blocks prior to this incident and you would probably see a group of young kids buying a carton of eggs…If only they would use “Egg Beaters”.

What I wonder is why do people throw eggs that are neither hard boiled nor cooked? You never hear reports of people throwing scrambled eggs on cars. That is just so very, very weird.

Sorry, comment time is over.
