Robert e-mailed to report that a carful of people went along 47th from at least Erskine to Raymond (map) about an hour ago, hitting cars with a hammer. Police were called; no word of arrests so far. 9:54 PM UPDATE: Checked back with Robert to see if he had a description of the car — “light/white-colored sedan. With a low rumble of an exhaust.”
I bet these kids right now think they are the coolest, toughest outlaws on earth, but it won’t take long until life flushes them down the drain and they’ll realize how pathetic they are.
I just went down to check out my car after reading this…no damage and I’m just down south of 47th Ave SW and Erzkine…I’ve got my cam looking at you now you little punks…

Yeah…until their Ponzi funds go South and their lil kids find out that their only room and board will be a cell in the King County Jail. I caught someone a few years ago vandalizing cars in lower Queen Anne…it took me over a month to apprehend the guy and I was even told by SPD to quit baiting my car…However, the camera footage I got of him vandalizing my car and others put him away for quite some time. Try getting a job in these times with a felony on your record!

Yeah, that’s about right. The kids I grew up around on the eastside were pretty much like that. Could give a crap less about anyone or anything. Why would they care, mom and dad’s lawyer will take care of it. Meanwhile you’re stuck with the bill.
I did see an early 2000’s white Volvo bypass about 10 cars in the middle turn lane. They almost plowed over the 2 people crossing Admiral with the orange flags. They turned down 49th and kept going until they got to a deadend and then they stopped sitting there waiting with lights on. Maybe that’s them? Maybe they were picking up some friends to go bash cars? Beats me, I turned around and went home after a while of watching them from a block away.
I’d call this type of stuff in, but the SPD always seems annoyed when I call in things, or the fire dept. shows up on my doorstep with their lights on, thanks for pointing out who called the kids in for blowing up a garbage can! Now my house is the target next.
I’m right in the vicinity but on 49th. Just went out and our cars are fine as are a couple of neighbors’ cars right there. For those of you waking up to it this morning, I am really sorry to hear of it.

I wonder what you guys would have said if I posted the these are probably a bunch of kids from the CD that are out vandalizing cars of people with money, who are more than likely white.
I just wonder what gave you guys the insight that this was a bunch of “bored little rich kids”? I could just as easily say that it was a bunch of wannabe gang members from the CD, in a car bought from the proceeds of their drug sales and theft.
What I would like to know is if Robert has any idea what type of car (make or model) it was. Because at around 1AM, a white Honda Sedan came down our street slowly, parked in front of our house and sat there. It didn’t look right so we called 911 and they sent SPD out. As soon as SPD came down the street the car started and TOOK OFF. Couldn’t see in the window but I know there was at least two people in it.

I can’t vouch for the financial status of the folks that did it. I could say, they were kids, and it was not an import. I did not get a lot of descriptive information, as I was fumbling for the phone, and adrenaline/anger was pumping.
I did check more of 47th this morning, and found broken mirrors from Raymond all the way up to at least Oregon, only the west side of the street.
I challenge the WSB readership to stop sending these utterly useless “warnings” until you’ve expended the effort to at least get a license plate (i.e., actually help the victims).

These types of items make West Seattle look like a community that does all their “policing” by peeking from behind their mostly closed curtains.
Frank- last night that crazy white volvo cut us off, at the exit from I-5 south to the WS bridge. he got in front of us at the last minute, with inches to spare from our bumper and inches from the guardrail. We didn’t call it in cause there was no telling where the cops would find it within the next couple of minutes tearing through the bridge traffic, weaving in and out of the different lanes. that was about 8:05 or so. do they respond to that ? “there’s a moron speeding across the WS bridge, who knows where they’ll go when they get to the other side, keep an eye out.”
Michael, it’s called neighborhood watch. I watch AND listen to the things going on around my neighborhood. And YES, I CAN tell the difference between a firecracker or a backfire and gun shots.
The police can’t be everywhere so there is a lot of dependence on “Joe Public” keeping a watch out.

One of the favorite things I heard or read someone say about this site once was “Block Watch on steroids.” Yeah, it would be nice if descriptions were complete. And frankly, I don’t know if the original sender on this one had a plate – the original note wasn’t a “warning” but more a “report” that this had happened and police were out investigating. But maybe a report of a white car having gone on a rampage in Seaview might have caused someone to take a second look if they heard something funny an hour later in Fauntleroy, looked out the window and saw a white car speeding away … who knows. Police do NOT advise confronting criminals, and getting close enough for a plate might have required getting confrontation-close. At any rate, fwiw, I am not likely to be able to find out before Monday if anyone was eventually arrested or not – TR

Dang…That white Volvo is crazy as hell. It tried to run me off the road. Then I went home. It woke me up by revving it’s engine outside my house. Then it was looking at my wife. I hate it.
Oh damn…I will let John Keister know that his Volvo’s been at it again.
