Welcoming new WSB sponsors: West Seattle’s NiaDivas

This morning, we’re welcoming new WSB sponsors offering you a chance to start 2009 with a unique way to keep your New Year’s resolutions for fitness and fun: West Seattle’s own NiaDivas. Jill Pagano (left) and Lesley Tinker (right) invite you to start your new year by stepping into fitness the Nia way. The Nia Technique(R) is a low-impact, aerobic exercise of dance, martial arts, and healing arts such as yoga. Done barefoot to music, semi-choreographed, Nia delivers a whole-body workout. More than a physical workout, Nia also strengthens mental awareness and inspires a self-expressive spirit. The happy results are a stronger body, increased flexibility, better overall fitness and lots of fun. Jill and Lesley, known as NiaDivas, are so sure that you’ll love Nia that they offer a FREE Welcome Class the second Saturday of every month at the beautiful dance studio in the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center on Delridge Way. What’s the best way to describe Nia? Jill and Lesley, who have been teaching Nia in West Seattle for three years, sum it up with “it’s inspirational fitness for an extraordinary you.” Click here to sign up for the next FREE Welcome to Nia class — coming up THIS Saturday! WSB welcomes the NiaDivas to our sponsor team; full list is here, with info on how to be part of it!

If you like dancing, whether you are “good” or not, you will like Nia. I’ve been doing Nia for about a year now, and every time it makes me feel happier, more flexible and stronger. I highly recommend it!

This has been so much fun for me and yes, any one can do it (I am no young pup and not a fitness guru). In my case it saved me having a surgery on my wrist-how cool is that!

Last year I was desperate to find a way to get into some cardio exercise that I would love. I didn’t want to walk, machines were boring, my knees are a little on the weak side…but I LOVE to dance! Nia was heaven sent. I’m now hooked. Not only does my body get a good workout (that’s loads of fun), but my spirit gets re-energized and my Mojo gets going gangbusters! Do yourself a favor and try it out; you’ll love the results! Thank you Diva’s Jill and Leslie, you’re the best! Sindy Todo

What a wonderful gift to be able to dance with the Divas. As a former West Seattlite it was so much fun to come back to The Youngstown Cultural Arts Center to feel the freeedom of Nia. I’m 62 and Nia has given me more flexability, more energy and more fun. Try it !!

I discovered Nia with Jill and Lesley in fall of 2007 but volunteer work kept me from attending the class closest to me, High Point Community Center, until fall of 2008. It was great to sign up for a 12 week series and even tho I missed a couple of classes, buying the class package was cheaper than paying drop-in rates. Unfortunately I am unemployed so not able to go to classes right now, but I can still dance around my house1

You are all warming my heart. Thank you for your kind words and adoring words. I love Nia like you do. It changed my life and helped me to appreciate the magic and beauty of the human body–any shape, any size, any injury. It is my joy to be able to dance with all of you. Yours truly, Jill, NiaDiva. Ps)Big hug to WSBlog…my favorite news source (OK, I like People Magazine too…does that count?)

I’ve done Nia for 5-6 years and Jill is one of the best teachers I’ve had. She has a wonderful energy you will not find with all Nia teachers and her classes are both a wonderful physical release, great work-out, and emotionally uplifting.

Bravo Jill for supporting this blog (I read the one in my own neighborhood).

My sweetie has joint and back problems and she is able to modify Nia on the “fly” and still get a great workout. She comes home sore and grateful to be able to get stronger all the time.

What a delight to see so many people online! Thank you! I discovered Nia almost 4 years ago, and have gone from a desk-athelete to a vitally conditioned person, thanks to Nia. Whole-body workout — 700 muscles and 200 bones, 75 trillion cells, all moving in health and joy. Nia gets my body smiling. How good is that!?!

I’d like to add a special thank you to West Seattle Blog for being colleagues of NiaDivas for over a year with events notices for our donation events. WSB–you ROCK!

Sorry, comment time is over.
