Those are two of the photos West Seattle Food Bank board member Keri Detore kindly sent us from tonight’s WSFB Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at The Hall at Fauntleroy. Read on for more on tonight’s event, and how you can help:

Keri writes:

Warmth and thanks were shared among staff and volunteers of the West Seattle Food Bank as they gathered to acknowledge the volunteers’ contributions to our community. During this annual dinner at the Hall at Fauntleroy, West Seattle Food Bank staff celebrated the efforts of their large volunteer base, who keep the Food Bank operating. The Food Bank depends on its volunteers for food packaging, distribution and delivery–many of these individuals are “regulars” who come in every week to ensure their neighbors are receiving nutritious meals. Many of them, such as Elva and BB–the longest-serving volunteers at over ten years each–have been participating on a regular basis for years.

Here’s a photo Keri sent of Elva and BB:

Also among those attending tonight’s event, Food Bank board president Pete Spalding:

Keri continues:

The volunteers themselves are a diverse group of individuals who share in common a passion for providing food to their community. Their dedication enables the Food Bank to face the challenge of feeding ever-increasing numbers of people, and it is this sense of commitment and compassion that was celebrated.

The holiday season is a perfect time to get involved with the West Seattle Food Bank! Donations of non-perishable foods are always welcome and cash can be used to purchase seasonal foods for holiday meals.
