From the WSB Forum: Traffic bottleneck unstopped

ORIGINAL POST: We won’t get a chance to verify this for about half an hour, but wanted to pass it along if you don’t frequent the WSB Forums — another reminder that news gets broken there as well as here on the main page, thanks to eagle-eyed WSB’ers: Longtime forum member “m” reports that southbound 35th to eastbound Avalon (map) is now posted as “no left turn.” 5:11 PM ADDITION: Just drove through. The sign says left turns are off-limits at that spot 3 pm-7 pm, Mondays-Fridays.

Aww… adding a left turn arrow to the traffic light would have been friendlier. That Starbucks is hard enough to get to as it is.

Could never figure out why folks would use that intersection to turn left anyway, the amount of time that it took to get through there would have made it a better idea to get off at the Harbor Ave exit and turn left there and go up the hill instead.
    .
This will hopefully help the huge delays getting up the hill on the WSB (West Seattle Bridge)!

Unless I am confusing this sign with another one, the no or limited left turn sign to Avalon from Eastbound 35th (just off the bridge) has been there a month or so ..

I think people have already commented on the pros and cons.

first time I saw it – and the person who posted it to the forum is a longtime WSB’er – so it sounded new, but apologies if it’s not – we rely on the folks who use the roads the most to flag us when they notice something new on the routes they travel most often (even though we cruise all the major WS routes at least once a day most days, there’s still something we won’t notice that you will) …

Man, this means I can’t get home if I’m coming from Admiral the back way. Not that I usually do; it’s too hard to turn there.

Now if everybody turning left onto the freeway at Fauntleroy and 35th would signal BEFORE they get out in the middle of the intersection, it would eliminate a lot of backup there. People who want to continue south have to guess whether they’re going to get caught behind somebody who gives no clue about turning.

Sorry, comment time is over.
