From the “in case you were wondering” department

Those spotlights in front of the Admiral Theater tonight were NOT for the West Seattle debut of the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival (WSB sponsor) — screenings are under way elsewhere in the city right now but the Admiral showings aren’t till next Friday and Saturday (schedule here; watch for WSB ticket giveaways starting Monday). Tonight, the Admiral was closed to the public, rented out for a private event, spotlights and all. As for PUBLIC special events coming up – three weeks till the Frances Farmer’s Revenge extravaganza (here’s the official site).

Interesting – tonight’s the night for spotlights. I saw some south of us tonight – Burien? Tukwila? No idea what it was but the kid thought the ‘crazy lights’ were fun.

Funny the reporter didn’t dig deeper, we would have welcomed you in and handed you food and drinks, probably invited you to stay for the screening too. We were celebrating our wedding and we had a screening of our film that is in festivals right now. Our film, Dry Rain, isn’t in SGLFF but we were at SIFF, the One Reel festival at Bumbershoot and lots of others.

Other exciting news is that we announced at the party the impending birth of our first child… The admiral was a perfect place for our party!

Glad to hear from you! A few of our short blurbs are literally drive-by coverage, and this was one of them; my partner came home from a run to multiple locations saying “oh hey, I got visuals of spotlights at the Admiral while passing by” – I tried to find online info using multiple search terms and it just was nowhere to be found! Dinah at the Admiral had mentioned, when we sat down with her a week or so earlier, that the theater had been rented out, so at least we knew that much. And congratulations on impending parenthood! – TR
