Signs to remind you that an idling engine is pollution’s workshop

These signs in the ferry-waiting lane alongside Lincoln Park may have been up for days or weeks – we’re just sayin’, we noticed them today for the first time. We had told you twice before that they were on the way — first in June, when Fauntleroy Community Association gave its support to residents’ proposal that the city install them, then in July when SDOT confirmed they were in the works.

Now they need to add signs reminding ferry-waiters not to block the entrances/exits to Lincoln Park or bus stops in front of the park (along Fauntleroy). We’ve had many close calls leaving the park due to sight obstruction from cars parked too close to the ingress/egress.

Thanks for reminding folks of the changes along Fauntleroy Way SW. The signs remind folks waiting for the ferry that turning off their engines will cut down on pollution and save gas. It should be mentioned that Sherry Richardson contacted city councilman James Conlin and he started the wheels rolling with the DOT. Citizen input can work.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Dick’s Towing sponsored those signs?

As long as they stick to nagging and not fining people. Like they’re about to do in England starting in Jan.:
