In case you were wondering about that West Seattle flyover

f15eagle.jpgWe were heading north to The Junction just before 1 pm when a Blue Angels-like roar preceded the sight of several military jets flying west. Figured it had something to do with the Seahawks game at Qwest Field; indeed, the Game Day page says “four F-15 jets” (Air Force stock photo above) were to fly over the stadium following the national anthem.

We were wondering what they were doing. Then decided to check the blog because you would know! Thanks

Thanks for letting us know. We were at coffee hour after church at Westside Unitarian in the Masons hall when we heard the low-flying plane – ran outside to see what it was. I had said it reminded me of the Blue Angeles when they’re buzzing our house – so glad to see an explanation of what it was!

That’s just a waste of money. Big waste.

WesCAddle, Krystal is entitled to her opinion, even if it differs from yours – there’s no need to be rude about it or turn it into a personal insult.

It was kind of cool that they were going “slow” enough to be able to watch them fly over for a minute!

Was that a waste of money? What if the pilots already were training by flying on Sundays anyways for their Air Force drill, today they just worked on formation flying and did it low for the benefit of the game goers for all of 5 minutes? Are you assuming they wouldn’t fly if there wasn’t a game? There’s lots of “wastes” of money out there each day. Do we need those logos pin stripes and yellow ribbons on fire trucks? Do we need to landscape sides of roads? Do we need to paint our buses green and yellow? Why not leave them unpainted and save the money. Right? Do we need to have flags at government buildings? Flowers at the Junction? Picnic tables at Alki? Do we need to fund high school sports uniforms? They’d play just fine in their own T shirts and jeans. No, none of those are needed, none earn us money, but they add to the moral of the community. Do you do that?

Man, some of you people are really cranky and uncivil! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Get over yourselves please.

Geez, I just loved watching them fly over and so did the people at the Farmers’ Market. If it coincided with an Air Force Reserve Drill Weekend, then they were within a short distance of the stadium anyway. The more practice they get, the better they are. And it was thrilling to watch as well as a great recruiting tool.

Sorry, comment time is over.
