Think your dog is ready for stardom? A chance to fetch fame

Michele at West Seattle Thriftway sends word that their “Dog Days of Summer” dogbeach.jpgpromotion is under way – and as part of it, CityDog Magazine – founded by West Seattleite Brandi Ahlgren – will have a professional photographer at the store 11 am-2 pm Sunday to take pix for the magazine’s Cover Dog Search. (Read more about the search here.) Also this weekend: a barbecue 11 am-4 pm Saturday ($7 for burgers/chips/soda) to benefit the Seattle Humane Society and Doney Clinic, and the SHS MaxMobile returns 11 am-3 pm Sunday with adoptable pets. (Photo above: A pooch we spotted on the beach south of Alki Point Thursday.)

WSB, “(Photo above: A pooch we spotted on the beach south of Alki Point Thursday.)” WSB witnessing another crime, dog off leash and fouling the pristine public beach and Puget Sound water. All illegal. Was Animal Control called? Did WSB photograph and then crop out the scofflaw dog owner?

True, but GET OVER IT NULU! Dogs and beaches go together like kids and a playground. Lab’s in particular were born & bred to love water, so why not let them do what comes naturally. I was forced to choose to break the law (rather than driving 14 miles away to do it legally) in order to let my pup learn to swim, even though it’s his God given right. Come on, get real. They aren’t hurting anyone or fouling a thing, and the waves will naturally take care of it even if their responsible owner does not. Who knows, that swimming dog might one day save your life or a life of a drowning child. If you get poop on your shoe, be it dog doo or bird, you just wash it off, it’s that simple! *HIT HAPPENS!!

It’s a real shame, with all the beaches in WS, that we licensed dog owners who pay our annual fees, have NO WHERE to LEGALLY swim our dogs nearby. I think that’s a crime!

Baba loves the phrase, “I was forced to choose to break the law.”
And Baba wonders which God gave the puppy its public park swimming rights.

Sorry, comment time is over.
