2 weeks after Alki fire, survivor still seeking somewhere new

beforefireunits.jpgWhen that Alki duplex caught fire two and a half weeks ago, its owner was out of town and its tenant managed to get out OK (though her cat was missing for a while). Several people asked in WSB comment threads whether the tenant needed any help, and we renewed that question in an e-mail exchange with a friend of hers. Over the weekend, she e-mailed WSB to say there is one thing that’s proving to be a challenge – finding a new place to live:

Hoping to find a house for rent in the Admiral area, but it’s difficult; if anyone is a good networker and knows of a nice quiet neighborhood that takes dogs, that would be helpful. I really need a nice quiet place to recover from the chaos of the fire and Alki, it’s been too much.

If you have any leads, please post a comment here, or e-mail us and we will forward to her.

As it happens i am also looking for a rental that is ok with dogs…

if $1650 isn’t too high,i looked at one this weekend that is very tranquil.. has a great sound view.. is less than 3 blocks to a great walking park, has a mostly private fenced back yard, a solarium and a fireplace… and a separate dining room.. 2 bd one bath… and is on a great bus line…

it is the main level of a house with a rented MIL apt below.. rented to a quiet young man.

and the landlord is a nice local woman.

call Josina at 206-708-1039 to see if it has been rented.

do you know about housingmaps? it is a mapped representation of what appears on craigslist.

to use it effectively, you need to check it more than once a day as listings pop on and off quickly.. and popping off doesn’t mean they have been rented..

also.. look in the price ranges above and below the one you are searching for since i have found things that would qualify in my mid price range that don’t appear there but do appear in the range above or below.

    good luck

    Here’s one on Alki:

I heard they changed the no-pets policy from a neighbor…

Sorry, comment time is over.
