Great Blog – I found it when reading up on Seafair Pirate Landing (taking my teen son for our first time there). I’m scouring the web now trying to find information about parking or public transportation in the area.

If you haven’t already left – there’s street parking in various areas around Alki but it tends to fill up fast. If you find a space along Harbor Avenue not far from the West Seattle Bridge, look for a bus stop with a Water Taxi Shuttle sign and you can catch a free bus that will take you to the main area of the beach. We don’t have dedicated park-and-ride type lots or public garages in this area. By the time we go down in another hour or so (we live several miles from Alki) we will probably do what we did last night – park in a neighborhood south of the beach and walk.

WSB – There is still one spot in front of my house! Hurry! lol

Also, the #56 bus is on every 1/2 hour schedule today.
Can catch it in downtown seattle going south on 1st Ave. and it will take you to 61st and Alki right across the street froim where the pirates land.
It’s a fun day for big and little kids.

Thanks, Erik. I am going to be screeching in somewhere at the last minute because I still have stuff to post before leaving … you see someone running down 61st, that’s going to be me. Hope I can make my way through the crowd to get a shot of something resembling a pirate; last year most of our pix involved the tops of people’s heads. (Late Saturday addendum, wasn’t even any parking on 61st all the way to Beach Drive – squeezed into a spot by the treatment plant and walked around the point!)

Sorry, comment time is over.
