First – Dump the Pump Day must be a roaring success; we couldn’t get a parking place within blocks of the Water Taxi dock, compared to two days ago, when we got here at 10 minutes before departure time and got a space within a few blocks. (Yes, we know, should have just left earlier and taken the bus all the way from home.) So we’re trying again for the 1 pm run. Meantime, a lovely view here at Don Armeni (cameraphone photo above), where our inbox just yielded the city’s official weekend traffic alert, including the 7:45-11 am time frame for the Saturday morning Viaduct closure we first told you about earlier this week – read on for the full citywide list:

Residents will have many activities to choose from this
weekend as events are occurring across the city, ranging from a
fighting-cancer race to an anti-violence march, and from festivals and
parades in Fremont to chefs sautéing different types of food at Pike
Place Market. The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises
citizens that these weekend events will likely impact traffic. Please
plan for possible delays in your travels or use alternate modes of
transportation.

Events happening this weekend are as follows:

Saturday, June 21

Susan G. Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure: 7:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.
20,000 attending
The Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The
following streets will be closed from 5:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.: 1st Avenue S
from S Jackson Street to S Atlantic Street; S Royal Brougham Way from
4th Avenue S to S Alaskan Way and Occidental Avenue S from S King Street
to S Royal Brougham Way.

Fremont Street Fair 2008: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
50,000 attending
Fair is on N 34th Street, N 35th Street, and N Canal Street, between
Fremont Avenue N and 2nd Avenue NW. Streets will be closed until Sunday
at 11:59 p.m.

Fremont Summer Solstice Festival: Noon
2,500 attending
Gas Works Park
N Northlake Way will be closed for the event.

Fremont Summer Solstice Parade: Noon
15,000 attending
Starts at NW 36th Street and 2nd Avenue NW, heads east to Fremont Place
and Fremont Avenue N, continues south along N 34th Street, then moves
east to Stone Way N, and finally south onto Northlake Way N into Gas
Works Park.

March will take place from Franklin High School to Aki Kurose Middle
School using Rainier Avenue S as the main thoroughfare.

Sunday, June 22

Fremont Street Fair 2008: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
50,000 attending
Fair is on N 34th Street, N 35th Street, and N Canal Street, between
Fremont Avenue N and 2nd Avenue NW. Streets will be closed until 11:59
p.m.

St. Mary’s International Festival: Noon to 4 p.m.
200 attending
Expect delays at 20th Avenue S and S Weller Street.

Summer Sundays on Pike Place: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
1,000 attending
Streets surrounding Pike Place Market may be congested.
