THURSDAY: Another WSHS benefit — the Foundation is raising money for visual and performing arts with an evening of dinner and theater (and a few extras!) on Thursday night, hosted by County Councilmember (and WSHS alum) Dow Constantine — read on for full details and ticket info:
The West Seattle High School Foundation will present its Fifth Annual Spring Dinner and Play on Thursday, May 8, featuring a student production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.â€
This fundraising event will be hosted by King County Councilmember (and Westside alum) Dow Constantine and emceed by Bill Swartz of KIRO radio 710.
The proceeds will benefit arts programs at West Seattle High School. In past years, funds have been used to purchase musical instruments, art equipment, digital cameras, and a multi-media projector for the high school theater. This year’s event will pay for equipment for the new WSHS Drum Line class and keyboards for a second music class. Drummers from the Seahawks Blue Thunder will join WSHS students for a performance at the dinner.
The West Seattle Big Band will be honored at the dinner for fostering lifelong learning and their generous support of instrumental music in area schools.
The event starts with a wine and appetizer reception at 5:15 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, then moves next door to the WSHS Commons for a catered dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the performance at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person and can be reserved by contacting Constantine at dowconstantine@yahoo.com.
