West Seattle Crime Watch: 2 break-ins with unusual loot

From the P-I: 32nd SW burglar(s) made off with $7,500 in athletic shoes.

From CL: Laptop stolen from a car in The Junction, but the owner doesn’t care so much about the laptop, just really needs the accompanying hard-to-replace notebook back.

whoa…exactly homany pairs of shoes add up to $32,000. Or was it just one pair with diamonds on the soles?

must be the jordan collection….you know the people who sit outside of nike town in the rain for days for the jordans that the company only makes 100 pairs of then sell on ebay for thousands of dollars.

I thought it was only $7,500 not $32,000. And so what if someone had that kind of money put into shoes, as long as he didn’t steal the shoes originally.

I think I saw the perps jumping over 35th with their tongues hanging out of their mouth.

Maybe he should get the basement window fixed if he’s got such an expensive shoe collection. A window broken for a long time is an invitation to a burglar.

Especially since I’m guessing the burglar knew the shoes were there.

    you’re right, Barmargia…I’ve looked at too many numbers this weekend – lol…still…$7,500 worth of athletic shoes…that would be 100 pairs at 75 bucks a pair…or 50 pairs at $150 a pair…

yes, they’re entitled to have as many pairs of shoes as they want..lol..I’m just not a shoe person…thought it was kinda humorous…

and on top of that, how many teenagers do you know that have shoe collections like that…wow…

Does anybody know where on 32nd this occurred? Just wondering if it’s at all near my house … even though this looks like an isolated event (read: someone clearly knew about this prized collection).

At any rate, just wondering if the burglaries are slowly creeping onto my block… YIKES!

I am checking with the precinct on that. We are in a transitional time re: access to reports (the department is changing over to a fully computerized system) so I didn’t see that one before it turned up in a citywide report. Will add here when I get the block #.

Maybe each item in that collection was a “really big shoe”. Sorry about that Ed.

How do you sneak 100 pairs of shoes out a broken window?

I can’t believe people STILL leave things like laptops visible in their parked cars.

7500 block of 32nd. Also just got an update on the 17th/Trenton “shots fired” incident and will be putting up a separate post atop the home page shortly.
