Caucus Eve update: Obama crowd photo from inside the Key

That photo’s just in from Josh (thank you!), who’s at the KeyArena rally (where scanner discussion says they have reached capacity and are trying to figure out how to securely close the doors because people are reportedly trying to break through them):

People are trying to break through the doors? Really?

  • WSB February 8, 2008 (12:04 pm)

Yup. As of a couple minutes ago, they report the doors secured. We are expecting more pix in from Josh, too.

Well over 20,000 people according to King 5 News. For those who didn’t make it out, you can watch it love on channel 2 or at

our own west seattle resident, hizzoner, helped secure the key for him. i swear, the women have a crush on obama and the men want to be him. it’s insane to watch people’s reactions to him. complete with fainting woman in the front row (i hope she’s ok).

Does anyone know if his speech will be available online today? I know some networks were going to cover it, but will they archive it for those who missed it?

you get that many people in a space like that, and the eat – coupled with probably no lunch – can take it’s toll. I’m sure they’ve had people faint in crowds before. As a woman, I don’t have a crush on him. I don’t understand what’s so insane about liking him…I don’t get people who make generalizations like that, I guess. He’s a viable candidate, intelligent, with good ideas.

I watched the live feed…he rocks.

Just back from Obamapalooza and gotta ask: Where’s the beef? Great speech. No substance. OK, headed over to the forums. Sorry.

I heard the scanner traffic about the fainting people, the heat was indeed blamed, there were a few people suffering the same thing in Hillary’s event last night, again, this is just according to scanner talk at the time. Also somebody fell and broke their arm somewhere around the Key while people were streaming in. Wow, pretty amazing that the presidential final 3 were all here more or less simultaneously. (Sorry, I have counted Huckabee and Paul out already.)

I was thinking the same thing today. The next president of the US of A was in Washington today.

Bob, I think your criticism is valid.

I went to Obama’s website and read his position papers. He seems solidly liberal to me, and he actually does have plans. He doesn’t talk about them as much, and that may be strategic–and it’s working for a lot of people (hence the rock star phenomenon.)

As president, he’ll have a cabinet, advisors, party leaders, etc. to help him flesh out the details of his ideas. All presidents do, right?

If his charisma can carry the Democrats back into the White House, regardless of his substance, it’s better than McCain being there, IMO.

What candidate to vote for? If you say one thing about Obamas skin color, you’ll be called a bigot. If you say one thing bad about a woman becoming a president, you’ll be called a mysogonist. You can’t win.

yawn…. stick to the WS stuff. I can go to HA if I want politics.

  • forrest February 8, 2008 (8:15 pm)

@Bob – When have you been to a campaign rally of this sort where the candidate drilled down into details of policy plans? That doesn’t happen, because 90% of the people there would doze off… thats not what they came for.

    @jiggers, yes you can win.

don’t say anything about either of those topics. stick to what actually matters. their positions on the issues.

Sorry, comment time is over.
