West Seattle crime watch: Sticker vandalism hits home

From Cendi:

I live on Gatewood Hill at California & Holden. Twice in the past two weeks, someone has come into my yard and put [well-known local business] stickers on my windows. It surprises me, because we are in such a highly visible area and the stickers were put on the two most visible sides of my house. Could this be working up to a break-in?

Don’t know if it’s a precursor to that, but it’s certainly vandalism. Police non-emergency number: 625-5011 (always on the Crime Watch page).

WSB…after lots of procrastinating, I finally put that phone # in my cell phone…I’m so glad you keep reminding us :)

and, Cendi? Have you called the company on the sticker? That would be my first step…no results? Call the non-emergency #…

I’m going to go with answer “c. teenagers”. Would the store in question happen to offer breakfast and records?

By the way, I happen to love the store in question, if, in fact, it is the store I’m thinking of.

That’s interesting – today I noticed an Easy Street sticker on a residential window at California & Oregon. It was definitely a new addition.

Plenty of stickers from Skate Church have also been plastered around the neighborhood, including some that obscure route numbers on bus stops. Jesus must be so proud of those little punks.

That is vandalism and probably a violation of the Seattle sign ordinance.

It is also one of the typical stupidities that caused the original overly oppressive sign ordinance in the first place. Anyone who wants to support free speech rights for political and personal signs, should turn the little punks in.

Call it in and get a police report number. These kidz will probably do it again and get caught.

Orange-scented GOO GONE is a really good product for removing price and other stubborn stickers.

Jan, I didn’t call the store because the stickering wasn’t their fault. Nate, I think you’re right about answer C. My fiancee set up a camera that will record anyone that comes into the yard on the two sides that were stickered. Maybe we can post a video of the punks doing their thing on YouTube along with some dopey music.

I found an Easy Street sticker on our Metro Vanpool van in early December. The van was parked overnight 3 blocks from the Easy Street store. There are Easy Street stickers on several street signs in the area around the store. I have stoped shoping at Easy Street, and will not return until their stickers stop being used for vandalism.

Sorry, comment time is over.
