Two more fun things happening the rest of the day

First, there’s the Kitten Holiday Party (listed on the West Seattle Weekend Lineup) at Pet Elements south of Morgan Junction:

That’s where we found this new kitten owner adopting what she referred to as “Elliott’s new friend.” (Elliott being the cat who will be surprised and hopefully pleased to meet his new pal.)

Also today and tomorrow, noon-4 pm (and those hours Thursday-Sunday every week), an exhibit at the Log House Museum with a unique take on Seattle history, and it’s only there a few more weeks – here’s what the LHM folks have written up about it:

In the year 1907 the City of Seattle almost doubled in size… how did this
happen? Seattle annexed six of the surrounding cities, of which West Seattle was the largest. Find out about these six communities, the how and the why… and what the Puget Sound area was like in 1907. This 6-panel traveling exhibit is at the Log House Museum until December 31st.

Funded by the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, the panels were produced by History Link with research and photographic contributions by the Southwest Seattle Historical Society’s Log House Museum.

Petco is also doing animal pictures with Santa (for the next 10 minutes). When I was up there, a big dog pulled Santa’s beard off his face.

We went to this “holiday party” and it was quite unorganized. There were actually no kittens – somebody has misdirected the cats to another location,so they weren’t there. Admittedly, I wasn’t there to adopt but to pet kitties. But I would love to have supported the Furry Faces foundation. There was no info that I saw on them – I expected they’d be selling products to benefit the organization. The listing said they were selling wreaths, but when we asked they had no idea what we were talking about and said they thought they might be selling them at Hotwire. I needed cat food anyway, so it wasn’t a wasted trip, but I would love to have seen more opportunity to help out these organizations.

sorry about that, Sue – our info came from Furry Faces; there were a couple cats when we stopped in within the first half-hour and organizers were off to find more. We know Furry Faces is definitely selling the wreaths throughout the season at Hotwire if you happen to have occasion to go by there.

Oh, I’m not blaming you, WSB. Just wanted the organizers to know that it could’ve been planned better if it was an attempt at a benefit.
Thanks for the confirmation that the wreaths are at Hotwire!

    Hi Sue,

Thanks for stopping by Pet Elements to support Furry Faces and the kittens of Feral Care.

We planned on having wreaths at the Kitten Holiday Party…and had sold out at Hotwire–which is great news–but did leave us without wreaths at Pet Elements. Since ours are truly handmade, they take awhile to make, so restocking takes a couple of days. Please think about stopping by at Hotwire on Saturday for a nice selection of newly made wreaths.

And in regards to the kittens…Feral Care adopted out six first thing in the morning. And yes, one of their volunteers had mistakenly taken the other kittens to a different adoption location–we had them back at Pet Elements around 2:00. Since everyone is a volunteer, we appreciate everything they do…even when things get a bit mixed up. They are all trying to do their best.

Hope the above helps explain the situation and that you will give all of us another try.

    Cheers, Teri
