EARLY MORNING UPDATE: As noted in comments, Metro says the bus tunnel is back in business. PREVIOUSLY: Metro still doesn’t know if the bus tunnel will be back in business for the Tuesday morning commute. They’re promising updates at the Metro website sometime after 4 am, so we’ll leave this at the top of the page into the early morning.
FYI in case you AREN’T a regular user (we didn’t know), and plan to do some last minute shopping this week…no, the tunnel under Westlake is not open (having nothing to do with this particular closure). Don’t understand why this stretch didn’t open along with the rest of the tunnel/s, but it didn’t. We saw a lot of people trying to open the locked doors on the Metro level. There was so much pedestrian traffic on Saturday night, Pine Street was closed to cars and traffic cops were directing at intersections all around the area. Having the option would have relieved a lot of chaos!
