Another sign of approaching holidays …

It’s that transition time of year for Tony’s at 35th/Barton — the produce stand is closed and the changeover to trees is looming, marked this year by a distinctive color scheme (since we took the pic yesterday, crews have finished wrapping the entire frame in holiday stripes).

Looks like an Italian flag, doesn’t it?

Glad to see that my dismantlement fears were unfounded!

Moe, could be, we were thinking holidays but who knows, maybe it’s a year-round thing. Tried calling, in hopes the phone went somewhere else when the stand was on hiatus, but no answer.

MOe: I thought the same thing. It looked to me like they were dressing the canopy for the San Gennaro Festival. I was hoping to maybe stop over there for a box of cannolis and a paper bag full of sugar-dusted zeppole.

Actually, I heard that Tony’s tent was damaged in the last wind storm, and this is a new replacement. I think the coloring, if anything, is more related to his heritage, not the approaching holidays.

Sorry, comment time is over.
