Free to a good home, from West Seattle’s Only Moviehouse

Hot out of the inbox. If you are interested in the free marquee but having trouble reaching Steve, e-mail us and we’ll send you his cell #; just didn’t want to put it out in front of thousands.

Hello from the Admiral Theater,
We are currently going through a restoration phase here at the Admiral and coming across items that may be of use to someone out there.
The first Item that we have come across is a:
12 foot long by 3 foot high double sided lighted marquee sign. It comes with more letter tiles than I care to count.
This sign is free to a good home, just come pick it up. I would hate to see it just be dismantled and thrown away.

Anyone know what improvements are in store for this restoration?

The Admiral entry at cinematreasures.org contains some links to archival photos of the original theater exterior plus information about original cosmetic details that are hidden behind drapery or false panels.

It’s a shame when any part–old or new. large or small–of a signature neighborhood building gets offered as a giveaway to whoever will take it.

Can you picture someone installing this 12′ x 3′ lighted marquee in their living room? Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode when Kramer set up the discarded Merv Griffin set in his apartment.

AJ – we have been trying to contact the Admiral’s owner to get more info on that – ever since seeing the flyer posted at their box office talking about the improvement effort (it asked people to chip in to buy new seats because they were apparently going for grants that wouldn’t cover such “furnishings”).

Sorry, comment time is over.
